Induced pluripotent stem cells can be used to construct patient-specific in vitro models of cerebral tissues that can then be used to model neurodegenerative diseases, study the nervous system and its development, and test potential therapeutics and medicine. This painting depicts an cerebral organoid overlaid by an outline of a a fully-formed adult human brain.
